Besides the absence of no-smoking signs my other issue is related to the De Anza website. I am not sure why the school website doesn't even attempt to stress that it is a smoke-free campus. I have had trouble finding the place where it mentions that it is smoke-free. Eventually I gave up looking and just entered smoke free in the search box. I mention this because most people who visit the website will not be searching about the smoke-free policy. This is probably another factor which leads to people smoking in "smoke-free" areas.
I believe it should be important that smokers:
Make sure their smoke does not enter buildings.
Do not smoke within 20 feet from campus building entrances, exits, or operable windows.
